The Green River Overlook is at the end of the paved road just past the Willows Campground in the Island in the Sky District of Canyonlands National Park. The point sits around 6,000 feet and gives viewers an excellent perspective of the canyon within a cayon geology that makes the Island District so unique. The Green River can easily be seen meandering through the expansive Soda Springs Basin. Additionally, the White Rim Trail can be seen far below.

Given its ease of access and expansive view, this is a must-do when at the Islands in the Sky District. For the best experience, and lighting, visit an hour after sunrise or at sunset. This allows the sun to streak above the undulating hills around the canyon, creating great highlights and shadows. For photographers, bring a wide but not ultra wide lens and a telephoto to create a mix of perspectives.

A parking lot provides a stress-free visit, though large RVs may have trouble negotiating the tight turns here. A pit toilet is also available. As with the rest of the park, there is no running water except here away from the visitor center.
