Set against the stunning backdrop of La Sal Mountain peaks and Moab Rim redrock, Ken's Lake is a scenic, relaxing getaway just outside of Moab. The shallow lake and pebbly beach are perfect for cooling off on a hot day as it is fed year-round by chilly mountain runoff diverted from Mill Creek. Swimming, fishing, and paddling are all popular activities here.

As the water is channeled out of Mill Creek Canyon it cascades down a gully in the redrock to form Faux Falls, just a short walk from the campground. The stream water is cooler than the lake, and the wading pool below the falls makes a perfect hot-weather retreat. Access to the lake and waterfall is free, but camping requires a fee to the BLM.

Campsites are distributed into two clusters between the lake and the waterfall. Some of the sites are spacious enough to accommodate even the largest RVs, though hookups are not available. The campground features group sites, picnic areas, grills, trash cans, a pavilion, and hiking trails to the water.

A few hints are worth noting about camping at Ken's Lake, however: The grass is full of thorns and burrs, so set up your tent on sand, dirt, or gravel surfaces. Also, bugs can get bad on summer evenings, so don't forget to bring repellent.

The campground location on Highway 191 is convenient to the city of Moab, La Sal Loop Road, Mill Creek Canyon, and Sand Flats Recreation Area. Arches National Park is just a short drive through Moab to the north.
