This trail starts from the Historic Babylon Trail about .3 miles from the trailhead. Little Purgatory makes a sharp left and begins a steady and very steep climb up switchbacks on loose terrain. Once you pass the steep section, the trail rolls through open desert and soon you’ll have great views of the Red Cliffs.

The trail ends where it meets the Historic Babylon Trail again at the top. When you start a steady downhill, take note that you didn’t miss the end sign. The trail is usually done as part of a loop hike with the Historic Babylon Trail and descending the steep Little Purgatory Trail. This trail offers no protection from the sun and is best hiked in the early morning.
