The small and nicely designed campground at Red Canyon can be a good alternative if the Bryce Canyon National Park campgrounds are full or if more solitude is in order. Located just a half mile from the Red Canyon Visitor Center, which is only open in the summer months, the campground offers spacious sites, including a few set up for groups of up to four vehicles. The campground also has flush and vault toilets, showers, an RV dump station and potable water.

The sites are set up along two loops east and west of the entrance road. There is some road noise, but there are also some nice views of the red cliffs and hoodoos across the road. There is a trailhead for the Buckhorn Trail right in the campground (across from site #25 on the east loop), and across the road nearby is a major trailhead for the Red Canyon Trail. This campground is a great base camp to explore the many trails of Red Canyon and could also be a good option for visiting Bryce Canyon, just 20 minutes drive away.

We enjoyed Red Canyon Campground. The Red Canyon visitor center is a short walk from the campground. From campsite 35, the view of the hoodoos are stunning. Red Canyon Campground is located approximately 4 miles east on SR 12 from US 89. Since the campground is right off SR 12 it comes with some road noise. $18 per night, 37 campsite, drinking water, flush & vault toilets, showers, dump station, garbage disposal. First come, first serve.
