Red Cliffs Recreation Area is located just off Interstate 15, and only a short drive from nearby St. George. The area features impressive red sandstone cliffs and is well known for its popular hikes including the spectacular Red Reef Trail. There are also several “side attractions” that can be seen while in the area. These include everything from dinosaur tracks to historic ruins. Please note that a small day use fee ($5) is required to park at the Red Cliffs Recreation Area.

The Orson B. Adams House is the most intact remaining structure of the small pioneering community of Harrisburg. The Adams House was built between 1863 and 1865 by Willard McMullin (the McMullin Homestead ruins are also located nearby).

The Adams family lived here until 1892. In 2006 the Bureau of Land Management completed a rehabilitation of the structure. Today visitors can walk around the outside of the house and read the informative plaques. The interior of the house is open occasionally for public visitation, but don’t plan on it.
