Green River Reservoir is a wild and undeveloped lake covering 653 acres of surface area with 19 miles of undeveloped shoreline. The park surrounding the reservoir encompasses 5,503 acres, making this pristine wilderness a haven for wildlife and outdoor lovers alike. Primitive campsites are spread out around the reservoir, and while these 27 campsites fill up quickly during the summer, there's lots of room to spread out, and the park never feels crowded. Several of the campsites are located right near the launch site, while the more distant campsites require a 1- to 2-mile paddle.

Green River Reservoir is open to canoes, kayaks, and small boats with electric motors. There is a small launch site near the parking area, which is the only part of the park that can feel crowded. The park provides carts to help you transport gear from your car to the launch site. Campers have access to shared pit toilets but no potable water, so bring something to treat your water if you're planning on camping.

Wildlife is abundant in and around the reservoir, and it is not uncommon to see moose, loons, bald eagles, beaver, otter, mink, and all kinds of birds. Your best chance to get a glimpse of these critters is at the far northern stretch of the reservoir. Paddle under the bridge into the wetland, especially toward dusk. In addition to the fabulous paddling, Green River Reservoir is also an awesome place to swim. The water is cold, deep, and clear, and while there isn't a beach to speak of, there are plenty of rocks for jumping into the water.
