Woodford State Park Campground is the highest-elevation campground in the entire state. While the Woodford State Park sees plenty of visitors, it's definitely not as crowded as some of the other state parks in Vermont. The park itself is small and unassuming. Adams Reservoir, which most park activities are based in or around, is just 23 acres. But what it lacks in size, it makes up for in beauty.

The campground is located on the eastern side of the lake, away from the day use area. There are four shaded campground loops with 100 sites, including 76 tent and trailer sites, 20 lean-tos, and four camping cabins. The first loop (sites 1 to 23) is all tent sites that are connected by a trail to the day-use area. The second loop (lean-tos across the road) don't have views of the water at all. You'll find the best waterfront sites in the third loop (sites 24 to 55). The last loop (cabins, lean-tos, and tent sites 55-84) have the most updated bathhouses. Plus, this loop is near the playground, camper beach, and hiking trail.

The campground is open from Memorial Day Weekend until Columbus Day weekend, and it is generally not crowded at all during the week. Canoes, kayaks, and paddle boats are available to rent. The park is within a short drive of the town of Bennington to the west and Wilmington to the east. Both towns have good dining options, and Bennington has some cool museums and historic sites as well.
