Cresap Bay Recreation Area on the eastern shore of Lake Merwin attracts campers seeking a variety of recreation including motor boating, human powered boating, biking, swimming, volleyball, and those just looking to relax in the thick, lush forest setting.

This is a popular campground, and reservations can book up completely months in advance. A site can be reserved up to 270 days in advance. It is a well-maintained campground owned by PacificCorp, just as all the other campgrounds on the shores of the Lewis River reservoirs. The rules and regulations of these facilities are lengthy and strict. Notable rules include no alcohol, no loud music, and no drones.

Access to the campground is restricted. A gate closes at the front entrance booth at 9 p.m. A tire shredder prevents drivers from attempting to enter via the exit road. It re-opens again at 6 a.m. One vehicle is allowed per campsite. Extra vehicles must pay an additional $5 per day for a parking pass. If parking space within the campsite is limited, there is an additional parking lot adjacent to the day-use area where boat trailer parking is also available. A 23-slip marina is in a small bay west of the campground. The slips are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
