The trails at Hyak Sno-Park are a great option for beginners and old pros alike. With a flat track and a hefty grooming schedule, it's easy to find your rhythm out on the snow. Add to this the Hyak Sno-Park Sledding Hill and the heated bathrooms, and you have an area with broad appeal.

Following the trail leaving from Hyak will lead you to Crystal Springs, another great Washington cross-country skiing destination, in 7.6 miles. The track follows the John Wayne Pioneer Trail, which is a year-round trail built on top of an old Chicago-Milwaukee-St. Paul-Pacific railroad line known as the Milwaukee Road. This means the grade remains relatively flat; it also means that the route parallels I-90, but the traffic is barely audible as it flows by Keechelus Lake. The entire route is filled with stunning mountain views. From the peaks visible just down the track to those that are perfectly framed across the lake, the scenery makes Hyak a great place to bring your camera.

As with other area trails, you'll need a sno-park permit and a special groomed trail permit to enjoy the trails at Hyak.
