Located in Whitman County just few hours from from Seattle, Kamiak Butte County Park is a family-friendly stop with lot of picnic benches, parking spaces, camping areas, a playground for children, and amazing views of the famous rolling hills of the Palouse region. Visitors will also find some easy hiking and running options on the Primitive Trail or the Spur Trail.

The 3.5-mile Pine Ridge Trail Loop climbs through Douglas firs all the way to an exposed summit, where you can look straight into Steptoe Butte State Park and enjoy 360-degree views of the Palouse farmlands. On a clear day you can easily catch glimpses of Pullman and Moscow over the expansive wheat fields of the Palouse. If you are in the area, be sure to set aside some time for the nearby scenic drive through the Palouse, which is a haven for photographers.
