Built in 1926, the Lake Quinault Lodge is one of five main lodges that accommodate overnight guests to Olympic National Park. Crescent Lake Lodge, Log Cabin Resort and Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort are on the park's north side, and Kalaloch Lodge directly overlooks the Pacific coast.

Lake Quinault Lodge, designed by Robert Reamer, has a grand hall, a central fireplace, timber framing, a cedar-shingled exterior, and a steeply-pitched roof that are all in keeping with the National Park Service rustic architectural style. The lodge's relatively modest design is comfortable and well-suited to Lake Quinault's quiet, temperate rainforest environment. The structure was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998 along with Reamer's earlier designed landmark, Yellowstone National Park's Old Faithful Inn.

The lodge's construction was well financed, and the two-and-a-half-story lodge was built in just over two months by Hoquiam lumber baron Ralph Emerson. It was actually a second phase replacement of a smaller two-story hotel that burned down in 1924. The first phase replacement of the original 1903 structure was actually what is now known as the Annex or "Bathhouse."

Not only will you enjoy sitting by the fireside for a retreat from the area's often overwhelming rain, you can also relax in one of the many Adirondack chairs on the lawn, stroll on the lake's pebbly shoreline, or jump on the Lake Quinault National Trail System that departs directly from the lodge.

Note: The lodge is open year-round. Call 1.888.896.3818 for reservations or book online directly through Aramark, the lodge's owner and concessionaire.
