Situated on the eastern slopes of the Northern Cascades, Lake Wenatchee State Park is an ideal weekend getaway for families and groups. Tens of thousands of years ago during the most recent ice age, a massive glacier carved out the valley surrounding Lake Wenatchee. Today, the 2,480-acre lake is fed largely by nearby glaciers and snowmelt, overflowing out through the Wenatchee River to bisect the park into north and south sections.

The North Campground offers 48 standard non-electric sites, as well as 42 full utility sites that accommodate large RVs. These vary in price from $20 to $38 depending on the day of the week, the size of the site, and the utilities included. There is a small playground at the center of the campground and plenty of beach to play on. Just down the road at the South Campground you can rent horses for guided rides, access the boat ramp, or visit the small convenience store.

During the summer months, canoe or kayak the expansive waters of Lake Wenatchee, hike along 8 miles of trail, or wade out to nearby Emerald Island from the beach. In snowy weather, try your hand at winter camping and take advantage of the snowshoeing and cross-country skiing trails.

Note that in peak summer months this campground can get crowded, so check out Nason Creek Campgroundif you desire more space. If you want a more private and primitive lakeside camping experience, check out Glacier View Campground on the southwest shore.
