Mirabeau Park consists of a small springs with a gazebo and lake, a larger day use park area connected to the springs by a short network of trails, and a swimming hole along the Spokane River across Mirabeau Parkway from the springs area. The swimming hole is a wonderful place to climb around on rocks above the river or go swimming in the water to cool off on a hot day. The river moves more swiftly here than at nearby Boulder Beach and Plante's Ferry swimming holes, so swimmers should exhibit caution and be sure to bring along personal flotation devices if planning to spend some time in the water. The city also provides some PFDs a the top of the parking area.

The rocks at the swimming hole offer numerous places to lay out towels and bask in the warmth of the sun's rays. A small industrial complex is across the river from the swimming hole, the only downside to what is otherwise a wonderful spot.

Mirabeau Park itself offers a lot of family friendly activities, and lots of families with kids are sure to be enjoying Mirabeau Springs and watching the turtles that swim in the pond. The hiking trails to the large lawn and day use area offer little in the way of fun, but there are a few popular bouldering routes along the way where local climbers can be found.

This area can get busy in the summer, and the few parking spaces above the beach can fill up fast. The Centennial Trail that runs along Spokane Valley goes past Mirabeau Park and makes the area very accessible by bicycle. To keep the area clean, use the many trash bins for all garbage and consider bringing an extra garbage bag to clean up for visitors who, lacking etiquette, are less inclined to clean up after themselves. Dogs are permitted, but must be kept on leash.
