At 2,409 feet, Mount Constitution is the highest point in the San Juan Islands. Accessible by car or hiking trail, you can climb even higher to the top of a stone observation tower that provides panoramic views to the Cascades, including Mount Baker and Mount Rainier. Mount Constitution also overlooks the 5,252-acre Moran State Park, so from the mountain’s summit you can peer over old-growth forest, a lodgepole pine forest, lakes, and the Rosario Straight; on a clear day you can see as far as the skyline of Vancouver, B.C., as well.

The surrounding Moran State Park is a camping park with five freshwater lakes and over 30 miles of hiking trails. Summer hours for the park are 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and winter hours run from 8 a.m. to dusk. A day-use pay station is located at the summit next to the public restrooms for those who choose to drive and do not have a Washington Discovery Pass.
