Mount Grant Preserve is a newly added hiking area in San Juan Island. Recently opened to public for day hike use, it is part of publicly funded campaign that led to the preservation of this 140 acres of land. It is a short, well marked hike of 2.0 miles that starts from the parking lot and runs through the gravel trail amidst an old-growth forest before joining a well constructed paved road.

At the end of the hike you'll reach what is probably the highest point on San Juan Island, and there you'll find majestic views of Mount Baker, Mount Rainier, and a widespread vista of San Juan Island. Be sure to watch for soaring bald eagles. With plenty of picnic benches, it is a perfect hike to marvel at the beauty of the San Juan Islands.
