Silver Fir is a small campground located along the North Fork of the Nooksack River. The campground's basic amenities (vault toilets, no showers or electricity) may be a drawback to some, but many campers prefer these simple offerings. Fewer modern conveniences often means fewer crowds and a more natural camping experience.

Silver Fir Campground's most unique feature is access to the North Fork of the Nooksack River. Every site has access to the river via short forest paths, and many have views. The sites are well shaded, and a wide gravel bar provides plenty of open space for sun seekers. Enjoy fishing and floating on the river, then check out some nearby hiking trails.

Mount Baker Highway terminates just 10.5 miles south of Silver Fir Campground at Artist Point – the jumping-off point for several spectacular North Cascades hikes. Table Mountain, sandwiched between Mount Baker and Mount Shuksan, offers incredible views of both peaks from 5,700 feet. For a longer trek, Chain Lakes Trail leads to several beautiful sub-alpine lakes in the Mount Baker Wilderness.

RVs are permitted at standard sites, but no hookups are available. The picnic shelter, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, has a fee of $5 per day for non-campers, or $50 per day to reserve for events. Site 1 is a group site, available for $16 per night.
