Sun Mountain Lodge is an incredible resort that is ideal for every season.

Inspired by nature, Sun Mountain Lodge reflects a harmony with its surroundings that is evident down to the last detail. Whether you’re looking for refined elegance or a rugged wilderness experience, a place to come together with the family or a romantic getaway, thrill-of-a-lifetime recreation or quiet reflection, or perhaps that rarified place where business and pleasure do mix, Sun Mountain Lodge is poised to exceed your expectations.

The lodge itself is nestled in the eastern foothills of the North Cascades in the Methow Valley, one of the Northwest’s most popular destination recreation areas. Perched on a bluff overlooking the mountain, the resort is situated on 3,000 acres of pristine private wilderness, including 120-acre Patterson Lake, and boasts 300 days a year of sunshine. Beyond relaxing at the lodge or at the Patterson Lake Cabins, bird watching, mountain biking, horseback riding, fly fishing, cross-country skiing (65 kilometers of groomed trails in total) and snowshoeing, and even horse drawn sleigh rides are all at your doorstep.

In total, the Sun Mountain Lodge is composed of four distinct accommodations: the Main Lodge, Gardner Lodge, Mount Robinson Lodge, and the Patterson Lake Cabins. Built amenities include:

  • 2 outdoor pools
  • 2 outdoor hot tubs
  • 4 tennis courts
  • Dining room (menus: breakfast, dinner, dessert, wine list)
  • Wolf Creek Bar + Grill
  • The Wine Cellar (featuring 3,500 bottles and over 600 different labels)
  • Library
  • Game room (with two pool tables, foosball, and table tennis)
  • Spa

The shop also features a fully-stocked fly fishing shop that carries top name brands including Sage rods, Simms waders and wading boots, Rio lines, Ross reels, all the accessories, plus over 100 different types of flies. Further, North Cascades Fly Fishing, based at Sun Mountain Lodge, provides expert guiding services for floating the Methow River and expertise for fishing the nearby 30-acre Moccasin Lake.

Cowboy Breakfasts + Dinners

Offered mid-May through mid-October, the Cowboy Breakfast or Cowboy Dinner is the best and most rustic way to experience the grandeur of the Methow Valley and its historic cultural roots. Here you can take a scenic 1 1/2-hour horseback ride or ride in a horse-drawn wagon to the old Hough Homestead for a memorable western barbecue dinner or Cowboy Breakfast. To whet the appetite, the dinner menu includes: coal smoked steak with gaucho oil, firepit chicken with barbecue moppin’ sauce, brown beans, smashed potatoes, farm table greens, cast iron cornbread, vegetarian grilled mushrooms, Dutch oven cobbler or scrap cake; beverages include coffee, lemonade, or water. Vegan and gluten free options are also available.
