Lewis Lake Campground is a medium-sized campground in Yellowstone Natoinal Park and is one of the seven in the park that is managed by the National Park Service, so it does not accept reservations. Located between the south entrance and Grant Village, this campground provides a quiet camping experience away from some of the congestion and crowds that the geyser basins and the popular wildlife locations have. Lewis lake is one of the highest elevation campgrounds in the park, yet it remains open for a relatively long season (generally into early November).

The campground is set up around four small loops, three for car/tent /small-trailer camping and one for walk-in tent camping only. The sites are fairly small, and in many cases the picnic table and fire ring are either up or down a hill from the parking area. This means that tent sites are a bit away from the road and have more than the usual dose of privacy. There are vault toilets only and no amenities such as showers or a store, but there is a small ranger station on site, which is great for getting up-to-date info on hikes and animal activity. Lewis Lake is quite large and does allow motorized boating; there is a boat ramp adjacent to the campground, but none of the campsites have any view of the lake. There is no cell coverage here.

Lewis lake is a great campground for the first night in Yellowstone and for fall visitors who arrive after most of the other campgrounds have closed.
