Yellowstone National Park's Old Faithful Inn is considered the worlds largest log structure, and you can feel it when you enter into the spacious log and limb lobby. The steep pitched roof is supported by a vast structure of lodgepole pine logs and limbs gathered within the park in the early 1900s. The 85-foot-tall rhyolite stone fireplace is also an impressive example of the grand architectural vision of the Inn. The first lodge of its kind, Old Faithful Inn is credited as the main influence of the "rustic-style" lodges seen in other lodges built in many other national parks. Iron work, etched wood, and glass are also examples of the extensive details that compile the historic Old Faithful Inn.

The inn provides services such as educational tours, a lounge, restaurants, cafes, a gift shop, bathrooms, comfortable seating and covered patios. The front desk kindly displays the predicted eruption time of Old Faithful Geyser, which erupts at fairly regular intervals of every 45 to 90 minutes.

The lodge offers a variety of accommodations, from luxury suites with refrigerators, kitchens and full baths to simple rooms with access to shared bathrooms with private showers. Prices start around $200 per night for the simple rooms and exceed $600 per night for larger suites. The Superior and Premium rooms feature views of Old Faithful Geyser.

The exterior of the inn is equally as impressive as the interior. The scale is just as grand as the surrounding landscape. Walkways allure you toward Old Faithful Geyser and provide access to the many other trails that exist in the Upper Geyser Basin. Many of the trails in the area also allow bicycles, which are a great way to explore the Upper Geyser Basin or to reach a trailhead for day hiking.

Just a few things to remember:
1) Take your swim suit and get to the Firehole River early to beat the crowds. The water is always cold so enjoy it!
2) Hike the trails. YNP is devoid of tourists once you get a mile away from the roads.
3) Food in the park can be pricey and yes, the Old Faithful Inn has dining rooms BUT the best meal in the area is at Kiwi's Takeaway in West Yellowstone.
