Mammoth Hot Springs is one of the outstanding thermal features of Yellowstone National Park. The area it covers is quite extensive, and much of it is accessible from the parking areas at the bottom along Highway 89. An easier way to reach some of the upper terrace features is the 1.5-mile one-way Upper Terrace Drive loop.

From the entrance of the loop road, it is a short drive to the first parking pullouts along the road. From here, boardwalks lead to some very nice features along the top of the main Mammoth Terrace, most notably Canary Spring and the main overlook at the top of the terraces. After exploring this boardwalk area, the highlights on the rest of the loop drive consist of several lone features with nearby parking. The Orange Spring Mound, the Bath Lake area, and White Elephant Back Terrace are the highlights.
