Amanda Boyd

Durham, North Carolina

An inspiring philanthropist but for now I must work.

My career choice has been in the fitness industry. I have owned my own personal training company since 2007 and had the opportunity to work as the Director of Awesomeness (aka the Director of Operations) for a fitness franchise. The days of spandex and neon colors might be trending back from the 80s, but the science behind fitness and health is a growing industry. In 2015 I took a step towards education at a small university which has led my career in the direction of research and writing.

I am a huge advocate that there is more to fitness than just fitting in your jeans (paraphrase from the great Ed Sheeran). Instead fitness is the tool that provides the opportunity to experience life. I have always had a wanderlust spirit and a need for adventure. Whether you want to be a tourist in your own town or scale the Appalachian, there is an adventure for everyone you just have to know what is available.

About Us

We believe good things come from people spending time outside. It’s about more than standing on the mountain top. It’s about nourishment and learning. It’s about protecting what sustains us. It’s about building relationships with the outdoors and each other.
