Start your hike early. You can beat the crowds and your likelihood of spotting a grazing moose is much greater. The later you go the more likely that you will only spot some antlers in the willows. Great hike up to Solitude Lake!
I would highly encourage able-bodied people to ride your bike around Cades Cove. If a person spots even a deer the congestion can get mind-numbingly heavy. If there's a bear in the area, forget it. You're not moving for a LONG time.
Throw a couple refreshing beverages of your choice into your backpack, pack a headlamp, and head up near dusk to watch the sunset. Stay a little while and head down in the dark. VERY hard to get lost (you won't be alone)
I'm quite sure that dogs are not allowed here. Even if they were, it would be very difficult for them to climb either of the waterfalls.
I've heard of doing this as a loop hike (around 24 miles)...any thoughts/experience?
