Indianapolis, Indiana

Charlie Kimball is the first licensed driver with diabetes to win a race in the Verizon IndyCar Series and first licensed driver with diabetes to qualify for and complete the Indianapolis 500. He started racing go-karts at age 9 in his hometown of Camarillo, California. After high school, Charlie was accepted into Stanford University’s engineering program but chose to pursue his dream of becoming a professional racing driver.
