Large pine cones live here although they seem smaller than they used to. Seems a tree blight has hit the park, thinning the forest. Still a good place for an impromptu getaway. In the campground, try to get a spot near the big meadow. We sorta liked it in that area. Also -- outside the campground, from the ridge, great views of Borrego.

Good desert campground for a short stay. Bring extra water, then bring more if you are planning on hiking. DO hike up the canyon to the oasis. Should be water up there.
Heads up for rattlers and corals (red on black can't hurt jack, red on yellow might kill a fellow) at all elevations.
Took a buncha newbies - -dudes in their late-twenties who have never been camping before, & I was the alleged scoutmaster. Been here many times prior also. Very cool and has a real old-timey feel with the observatory, inside and out. BTW this was prior to big fire.
Easy hikes, clean campgrounds, smells good. If the campground set-ups are the same, then there are plenty of very good spots. Excellent family camping spot, but with littler kids best to include the observatory.
May I add the following to the realm of dumbassisity:
Show up at National Park public campsites in the middle of the night. Hammer stakes on your twelve-person tent. Giggle incessantly at a loud, high-pitched tone. Unpack your two u-haul trailers containing your stereo gear and other seemingly unnecessary stuff. Play guitar.
I'm talking to you, zagnuts from last Saturday night at Bryce North Campgrounds.
Do not supervise your children on steep multi-pitched switchbacks, allowing them to kick rocks from above, onto the persons of hikers on switchbacks below.
I'm talking to you, null-and-voids who let their kids do this on Navajo Loop Trail, Bryce, last Friday.
