Karen Lee Ensley

Schnecksville, Pennsylvania

The wanderlust seed was planted when I was a child…
I was 10 years old when my parents, big sister and the family dog took a summer-long American road trip. Loaded into a station wagon with our large dog, a mutt named Lucky, my dad towed a small trailer and the family around the United States in an epic life-changing adventure.

When the photographs from my simple point and shoot camera (that I repeatedly banged against rocks as I scrambled to follow my dad to the mouth of an ice cave) showed that I had captured a fabulous scene that the rest of the family’s cameras didn’t capture,

well, let’s just say that since then…

As a writer and photographer, my work has been published nationally and internationally in books, magazines, newspapers, brochures and calendars. I’ve created images for local non-profits and major international corporations. It was my privilege to be one of three photographers to photograph then U.S. Vice President Al Gore receiving an award.
