Among the United States' most recognizable and beloved outdoor landmarks—like Yosemite Valley, Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, and countless others—you might be surprised to know that Sleeping Bear Dunes was voted America's most beautiful outdoor destination. In this week's episode of Monica Goes, you'll get a peek at the reasons why: serene woodland walks, enormous sand dunes, and the azure hues of Lake Michigan.

All that, plus, Monica digs into local life on the Lower Peninsula in Traverse City, Michigan. To celebrate a summer of women in the outdoors, we're "touring" the U.S. with Monica Ortega, the host of the adventure travel series Monica Goes. Follow along with us throughout the months of July and August while Monica circles the country in search of adventure.

Follow along as Monica tours the nation in search of adventure.

Next week, Monica takes over Billings, Montana.

Monica Goes was established in 2014 to remind us that you don't need to be an expert or an adrenaline junkie to go on epic adventures. Being afraid of everything, Monica's goal was to show people you don't need to let your fears hold you back from doing something you love. If she can do it, then anyone can! Read more about Monica and Monica Goes at MonicaGoes.com. Find this and every episode of Monica Goes on YouTube, and don't forget to subscribe!
