If you've visited the adventure guide for Disappearing Lake or Mount Hood's Sandy Glacier Caves recently, you may have noticed something new. Starting this week, Outdoor Project and Oregon Field Guide are working together to share content. Together we want you to be inspired to get outside and get the trip guides, maps and resources you need to go explore Oregon and the Northwest to the fullest.
Oregon Field Guide, which airs Thursday at 8:30 p.m. on OPB, covers natural resources, ecological issues, outdoor recreation and travel destinations across the Northwest region. The show is the foundation of outdoor inspiration for multiple generations of Oregonians, seamlessly combining education and adventure. For 25 years, it has taken its viewers to places that are hard to find or off the beaten track. We are adding these stories to the related adventures on Outdoor Project. It's our hope that this gives you a richer context with which to explore these places, be it from a historical background, the political and ecological issues surrounding a region, or the pure exhilaration of exploring remote destinations.
For many of the shows from that last few years, and starting next season for all new shows, Outdoor Project guides and nearby adventures will be accessible directly from Oregon Field Guide's website, like this example from the McKenzie River Trail. "Oregon Field Guide and Outdoor Project are a natural, seamless fit. Our viewers often ask us, "How can we experience these amazing places for ourselves?" Thanks to this collaboration, the answer to that and many more questions will be instantly available. We're thrilled to be partnering with Outdoor Project in giving people an easy way to find adventure in the northwest," says Ed Jahn, a producer for the show who was instrumental in setting up this partnership.
For now, check out the featured adventures below to watch some of the recently aired segments on Oregon Field Guide. We're certain these will spark ideas of places to visit or take you back to an old favorite in a whole new way. We are excited to work with Oregon Field Guide to incorporate more of their shows into our adventure coverage and to bring you the maps and guides for the areas included in the upcoming season, currently in production and set to start airing in Fall 2014.
