This route links Hart's Pass Campground to Grasshopper Pass via the Pacific Crest Trail.  From the Hart's Pass parking area, walk down Forest Road 5400-700 a short distance and enter the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) on the left. Follow the PCT for 2.3 miles where the trail reaches the access trail to Brown Bear Mine Camp.  The PCT follow a path below Cone Mountain, making a sharp right about one mile from the Brown Bear access trail.

The PCT climbs to a ridge just past Cone Mountain.  This ridge is about one mile long and connects Cone Mountain and Tatie Peak.  The trail passes below Tatie Peak to a pass then descends an open area at the five mile mark from the trailhead.  The trail continues now traversing below Syncline Mountain for another two miles and reaches a flat open area which a false pass.

Continue another .75 miles to reach Grasshopper Pass which is relatively small.  From the pass there is excellent views of Mount Ballard.  The entire route is traversing open ridges and passes with excellent views in all directions.  Return on the PCT back to Hart's Pass.
