The Snake River Dike offers a great opportunity for getting out during the winter months near Jackson, Wyoming. The trail follows the beautiful Snake River and is groomed during the winter. It is open to all non-motorized trail users including cross country skiers, snowshoers, fat bikers and walkers. It is also a popular area for dog walking so expect to see some off leash dogs.

The pathway begins at the parking area for Emily Stevens Park. You’ll walk toward the river then take a right and descend a slight hill. There is also a pedestrian bridge leading across the river here, but don’t take it.

The groomed path then continues to follow the river upstream. The trail is almost completely flat with no elevation change.

The views of the Teton Range are fantastic on a clear day. You’ll be able to see all the way to Grand Teton, and of course some closer peaks including Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Also keep an eye open for wildlife including big game such as moose, as well as bald eagles that are commonly sighted here.

You can walk the trail for as far as you wish, then return the way you came back to the trailhead.
