Hagen Canyon Nature Trail is a 1.2 mile path through incredibly picturesque geoligic formations within Red Rock Canyon State Park.
Accessed from a signed trailhead immediately beside Highway 14, the Hagen Canyon area has an interesting history. With its abundance of geologic formations, the canyon's history is entertaining, as it is named for a previous owner who began operating the land as a tourist destination, where visitors could visit a variety of mapped out rock formations with made up names to increase the interest factor. Over time, the land went through family before ultimately being taken over by the California State Parks system - ironically it is still operated on a day use fee visitiation site...
Formations with names such as Camel Rock and Turk's Turban lane the easy path, and larger cathedral walls and cliffside caves line the trail.
The path is lined by stones placed at its edges, though seasonal storms tend to reroute the walking path, so having navigation is helpful - it should be noted there is no cel phone service here.
Visiting the Hagen Canyon Nature Trail is subject to park rules, including hours of operation and use fees. There are no amenities at the trailhead or along the hike - though water and bathrooms are available a half mile away at the park visitor center.
