This hike to Deer Creek Lake is of Scenic Highway 12 in Dixie National Forest.  Access to the trailhead is via an unmarked dirt road near Point Lookout.  The dirt road is passible for passenger cars.  The road enters the forest turn right with several parking areas on the side.  The trailhead is at this location.

The trail has a steady climb whuch is steep at first but becomes gradual after about .5 miles.  Mnay wildflowers line the trail as well as patches of Aspen.  The trail is well defined however there are a few herd paths so downloading the tracks will be helpful.

The trail is mostly exposed with a few sections passing through forest.  At about 2.5 miles from the trailhead, there is a trail that goes to the south side of Deer Creek Lake.  There is a sign down directing to continue straight to the north side of the lake.  There is a very nice campsite at the end of the trail before a boulder field that feeds into the lake.  The trail continues a little way more.  Return the way you came in.
