Old Home Beach is a narrow stretch of sheltered sands on the south edge of Trinidad. Trinidad is self-titled as a seaside village that is one of the smallest and oldest cities in California. Many small local shops and restaurants are dotted around the city with friendly local customer service. You'll see many such shops while driving to the parking area for Old Home Beach.
The best current access to Old Home Beach is from the Memorial Lighthouse, a replica of Trinidad Head Lighthouse built to honor and remember those lost at sea. A trail passes by the lighthouse and leads down several flights of steep stairs to the beach. Along the way you will have excellent views of Trinidad Head and large sea stacks to the south. After one final set of unstable stairs you will set foot on the beach. To your right will be some rocky areas and small tide pools, but the majority of the beach lies to the left where the best sands can be found. While visiting Old Home Beach, keep an eye open for harbor seals and sea birds on the offshore rocks.
