You are here
Established in 1976, Westwood Hills is a small park nestled right alongside downtown Napa. A perfect location for short hikes and workouts, the 98-acre park is full of trails that cross the hilly landscape. Since the area can be crowded at times, the 2-mile perimeter hike is a a good option.
Your walk will start on a large fire road that passes under eucalyptus trees, but you will soon turn off to the right and up the hill. Traverse along the hill until you reach the fence that marks the boundaries of the park. Follow this fence up and over the hill, and after you reach the top you will make your way left and down the other side toward open fields. There is a short climb up to a viewpoint that overlooks the Napa Valley vineyards, a perfect spot for a bite to eat. Stay on the trail until you hit the perimeter fence on the opposite side of the park, then follow the fence all the way back up the hill. where you will be treated to beautiful views of the valley. From the top, you can either follow the main fire road, or you can experiment with the smaller trails on your way back to the park entrance. Be sure to keep an eye out for poison oak, which is ubiquitous in the area.
