Ho‘opi‘i Falls is an amazing waterfall and small 20-foot tall cliff diving spot that is very popular with visitors and tourists alike. The short trail starts on Kapahi Road near the town of Kapa‘a and heads through a beautiful rainforest and along Kapa'a Stream. The waterfall cascades down lava rock and into a relatively deep pool at its base. The trail is less than half a mile to the falls, and it is frequented by many colorful tropical songbirds. Just like all hikes on Kauai, the trail can be very wet, buggy, muddy and slippery. Use extreme caution when climbing out of the pool wth your wet feet because it is easy to misstep here. There is another waterfall further down the trail, that but there is no cliff diving there, just a large swimming hole. Do not go here after heavy rains because flash floods are common. If you have never been here before, make sure to watch where the locals choose their jumps. This ensures you are jumping into the right part of the pool.
