Not to be confused with Big Creek Campground in the Olympic National Forest, this Big Creek Campground is just a stone's throw from the west entrance to Mount Rainier. This campground loop serves as an essential overflow campground when traffic around the national park becomes busy in the summer, and the large sites are well-suited to such a task. In summer, the dense foliage throughout this campground, combined with the spacious sites, conveys a sense of privacy even in busy months. The proximity of Big Creek doesn't hurt, either, and several sites sit right above the water.

Big Creek Campground is equipped with the basic amenities, including picnic tables, fire pits, and vault toilets. You will find potable water here, in addition to double-site options. The campground's main asset, of course, is its location: in addition to its prime location near to Mount Rainier National Park, you'll also be right next to heaps of trails outside the park, including trails Grainite, Bertha May + Pothole Lakes and the popular hike to High Rock Lookout Tower. This campground is an excellent base from which to explore this diverse area.

Note: Big Creek Campground is open from May through mid-September. Call Hoodoo Recreation Services at 541.338.7869 for specific dates.
