The Loon Lake East Shore Recreation Site is a small and efficiently used area. A one-way loop road ascends up a steep hill from the roadside parking area through thick forest, accessing six small campsites. A central vault toilet is located toward the bottom of the hill in the middle of the campsites.

The day use area, just across the street on the lakefront, offers a large grassy area to picnic as well as a small cement fishing dock and beach. Though small in size, visitors can expect to find solitude among the Douglas fir, western redcedar, and hemlock trees. In addition to the many activities available on Loon Lake, visitors can look for nearby hikes to Loon Lake Falls or Loony's Lakeview.

If staying at Loon Lake, but looking to go more up-scale with your accommodations, consider the Loon Lake Lodge + RV Resort that not only provides campsites, but also full hook-up RV sites, yurts, cabins, inn-style rooms, and their stand alone Waterfront House
