The North Shore Trail is a great ride for those looking for a fun cross-country trail that includes some technical sections mixed with miles of smooth, twisty singletrack. While there are no long climbs, the ride provides a great workout due to the trail's constant undulations and length. If the whole out-and-back ride is too much for you, there are numerous options for accessing smaller portions of this 8.5-mile trail that runs between West Boundary/North Shore Road and the banks of Lookout Point Reservoir. While not the most scenic of rides, the quality singletrack and easy access from Eugene or Springfield makes this a go-to trail for area riders. This is especially true in winter, when higher elevation trails around Oakridge are snowcovered and many other local trails become too muddy to ride. Watch out for poison oak on the sunnier portions of the trail.
