With its white, sandy beach and cerulean and cobalt waters, Meeks Bay Beach sits right up there with Sugar Pine Point and D.L. Bliss State Parks as one of Tahoe’s west shoreline standouts. A fine place to spend a warm summer day, horseshoe-shaped Meeks Bay draws campers, swimmers, and beach goers to enjoy the clear waters and recreational opportunities found in the area.
Lying adjacent to Meeks Bay Campground, the drive-up day use beach is well suited for families and offers easy access for deploying personal watercraft such as stand-up paddleboards and kayaks. Summer weekends and holidays often bring a crowd, but the broad beach provides plenty of room to find your own lakeside oasis. And if a break from that high elevation Lake Tahoe sun is in order, shaded picnic areas equipped with charcoal grills are located behind the beach. A public restroom is also provided.
Meek’s Bay Beach and the adjacent campground are open between Memorial Day to mid-October. The beach remains accessible year-round, but the facilities and drive-up access are closed. Dogs are not permitted on the designated swimming beach.
For those with larger boats or who are interested in renting, a small marina operated by Meeks Bay Resort and Marina is located directly north of Meeks Bay Beach just across Meeks Creek. The marina offers a range of boat and SUP rentals as well as a boat launch and slip rentals for a fee.
