This short and popular hike begins from Carson Pass and leads to a small lake, then onto a scenic viewpoint just beyond. The trail is well traveled with minimal elevation gain, a perfect short outing for anyone with limited time or hiking with young kids.

At Carson Pass you’ll find vault toilets and a small visitor center with helpful volunteers, and some maps/supplies/souvenirs available for purchase. Note that a small parking fee is required.

The trail then climbs slightly up to Frog Lake, 1 mile beyond the parking area. This scenic small lake is a great place to have lunch or take a dip.

While you may choose to turn around now, I’d highly recommend walking another half mile to a vista point with a fantastic view.

After enjoying the vista, return the way you came.
