The Double Diamond Ranch Wetlands Trail one of several accessible trails in the South Meadows part of Reno. This path follows a wetlands stream as it flows through a development.

The path is paved with wide concrete, meaning that this is less an adventurous hike and more just an intown ramble where you'll likely pass families and dog walkers from the neighborhood getting outside in the late afternoons.

As the trail has spurs to many of the neighborhood cul de sacs, there are lots of access points, though the easiest way to gain access to the trail if you don't live nearby is park at one of the neighborhood parks that the trail passes by. These would be:

  • Center Creek Park at the southern end. There are drinking fountains here.
  • Comstock Park which has a bathroom and drinking fountains.
  • Horizon View Park which lies across the wetlands from the main path.

The path often crosses the waterway, and with the number of trails leading to the neighborhood streets, navigation might be helpful to ensure you don't reach a dead end. On that note, the trail reaches a dead end at either side, with a locked gate to a shopping center ending the path on its southern side and the trail reaching busy South Meadows Parkway at its northern terminus. A couple smaller street crossings are reached along the way, though these streets aren't busy.

Overall, a peaceful walk with only a very slight elevation slope along a wetlands corridor nestled in between lines of homes. Depending on water levels, portions of the trail may be submerged for very short sections.
