The Bently Heritage Trail is the result of a collaboration between several area nature conservancy and recreation groups and a working ranch who owns the land. The result is a 1.8 mile roundtrip easy walking trail leading to a peaceful bench overlooking the Carson River and Sierra Nevada peaks in the distance.

Beginning at a signed trailhead, the Bently Heritage Trail follows a generally flat course on soft dirt single track as it heads in a northwest direction toward the Carson River. The trail passes over several seasonal streams, utilizing wooden foot bridges constructed by local boy scout troops. There is generally no shade along this route, and noise from the nearby Highway 395 has a tendency to drift through the air to the trail, however views of the Sierra Nevada to the west and Hot Springs Mountain to the east, coupled with the fact that this trail generally sees few visitors, makes it a peaceful and scenic trail to explore.

As the trail sits on the property of a working cattle ranch, dogs, horses and bikes are not permitted on this land. Upon reaching the end of the trail, a long bench sits overlooking a bend in the Carson River.

There are no amenities of any kind at the trailhead, except for a sign talking about the work of the Carson Valley Trails organization who made this trail possible.
