The Oldenberg Lake Trail begins from Cresent Lake Road, near Spring Campground. The highlight of the trail is the namesake lake, located at the 4.5 mile mark. You can hike it as an out-and-back to the lake, or continue all the way to Windigo Pass.

The trail meanders through dense forest comprised of very small pines. You’ll gradually gain elevation as you go. Just before Olderberg Lake are Bingham Lakes and meadow.

Next, a 4 way junction awaits at Oldenberg Lake. Turn left to follow the short path to the lakeshore. There are also some flat spots for camping if you wish to overnight in this area.

After visiting the lake, you can return the way you came or continue southward to the end of the trail. The trail comes to an end near Windigo Pass. This is also the end of the Metolius-Windigo Trail, a much longer (over 100 miles) equestrian route that the Oldenberg Lake Trail is a part of.
