Fear. Monica Goes is all about conquering it. If you've been following along,
you'll know that Monica's biggest fear is heights—but in her California
homecoming, she found something that might top it.
This is the seventh video in eighth CleverHiker's [1] Essential Trail Skills
video series. This series is designed to teach backpackers of all levels the
most important skills for the backcountry.
We cover everything from planning your first trip and packing a lightweight
bag, to fording swift rivers and performing an ice axe self-arrest.
We all look for those magic moments outside, from extreme adventures down to
quick walks with the family. These are moments when everything aligns and,
for lack of a better way to put it, you feel lucky to be right there, right
then, just to see it happen.
You've spent a little time on in the Hoh Rainforest [1], and you've bobbed
around on the Pacific outside of Depoe Bay [2]. For this week's Zen
Wednesday, take flight in one of Oregon's most remarkable wildlife refuges.
The 2,865-acre Ankeny National Wildlife Refuge is located just south of
Salem, and it is a vital habitat for the dusky Canada goose.

Among the United States' most recognizable and beloved outdoor
landmarks—like Yosemite Valley, Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, and
countless others—you might be surprised to know that Sleeping Bear Dunes
was voted America's most beautiful outdoor destination.
Nashville is also known as Music City, and it just happens to be the former
home of a certain adventure travel host, Monica Ortega. Amid the line dancing
and leather boots, Monica fell in love with the hiking trails in her
once-home of Tennessee, so she was thrilled to travel there and showcase its
outdoors and attractions.

In this week's featured episode of Monica Goes [1], Monica visits the
ever-popular Devil's Bridge [2] outside of Sedona, Arizona, and she finds a
healthy dose of one of her biggest fears: heights. The apex of the sandstone
arch is about 50 feet above the desert floor and 5 feet wide—but Monica is
cut from a different cloth.

New York's newest protected waterfall, Delphi Falls.
