When people think of waterfalls in Oregon, they often go right to the amazing waterfalls of the Columbia River Gorge, and for good reason. There are dozens of beautiful falls cascading off the basalt cliffs and a variety of hikes for all skill levels. The 620-foot Multnomah Falls is Oregon's tallest waterfall and its most-visited attraction, seeing over 2.5 million visitors each year. Though the gorge should not be overlooked, there are certainly more waterfalls throughout the state that are just as impressive.
It's always hard to pick favorites when there are hundreds of options to choose from, but someone has to do it. Here's a few of our top picks.
Salt Creek Falls
This is the third largest waterfall in Oregon, dropping a total of 286 feet. But it's the flow that makes Salt Creek Falls impressive. It has an average flow of 250 cubic feet per second, whereas Multnomah Falls is only 150 cubic feet per second.
White River Falls State Park
Located 35 miles south of The Dalles, White River Falls State Park is a relatively unknown destination. You can view the falls from above or walk down the path to an abandoned power station for views of the falls from below.
Toketee + Abiqua Falls
For most beautiful, it's a toss-up between Toketee and Abiqua Falls. Both of the falls cascade down gigantic amphitheaters of volcanic columnar basalt, making them some of the most dramatic and most photographed falls in the state.
Tumalo Falls + Creek
Tumalo Falls is a popular destination in Central Oregon, but few travel beyond the first waterfall. Once you reach the top of Tumalo Falls, keep following the creek and you'll find nine more falls within 3 miles.
Drift Creek Falls
Located deep in Oregon's Coast Range near Lincoln City, this waterfall is certainly worth a visit. You'll get impressive views of the 75-foot falls from the 250-foot suspension bridge.
