If you are in Death Valley and looking for a quick and accessible place to camp, Fiddlers Campground just might be the place for you! Owned and managed by Furnace Creek Resort, camping here comes with some major perks. Each campsite comes with a “room key” that gives you access to the showers, swimming pool, laundry facilities, and Wi-Fi at The Ranch at Furnace Creek. The ranch has a general store, restaurants, a post office, and rooms if you wish to skip camping all together. The campground is also adjacent to the visitor center.

The Furnace Creek area is one of the few places in the park with a reliable cell phone signal. The area is somewhat “off the beaten path,” as it is not advertised by the National Park Service, so your chances of finding a spot are fairly high. You can call in advance, or just walk into the main ranch lobby. All in all, at $17 a night, you get a lot for your money.

The downside to this campground is the lack of privacy as well as close proximity to other campers and local residents. This is essentially a parking lot that has been converted into a camping facility. Individual campsites are stacked side-by-side with little extra space once a car is parked. This campground is best suited for RV or car camping, though you are more than welcome to pitch a tent. While individual campsites do not have fire pits, large community pits are located on site.

Fiddlers Campground, Furnace Creek, and Panamint Springs are the only three places in Death Valley National Park that accept cash. This is important to note because most campgrounds do not openly display their policy of accepting only credit card payments, which leaves a lot of tourists scrambling for a place at the last minute. With all the amenities, the cheapest gas, as well as all the nearby adventures, this is a perfect place to set up if you plan on exploring the park for more than a few days.
