Wolf Creek Pass is one of Colorado's high mountain passes, but unlike many others, the parking area at the top does not offer much of a view. It takes a short drive up a dirt road to the upper overlook to really unlock the amazing vistas around this pass.

The gravel road from the highway is smooth and easy for any car to navigate and passes by a large radio antenna farm before reaching the parking lot.  Here there is a vault  toilet, a few picnic tables, and a short trail up to the fenced overlook. The view encompasses the pass below with its nearby ski resort, the high peaks of the San Juan Range's southeastern section, including North Mountain, Cropsy Mountain and Cornwall Mountain. Just south of the overlook is Alberta Peak, which makes a fine day hike. The Continental Divide Trail passes near the overlook, and another great day hike is the Lobo Trail segment of the CDT which offers great views of the divide to the north and west. The trailhead for this hike is back up the road behind the radio tower building where there is some parking.
