Just 10 miles south of Reedsport, Eel Creek Campground is a great year-round option as you explore the incredible Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. The campground is ideally situated in the middle of one of the recreation area’s few non-motorized zones, which means it gets less traffic, less noise, and it may be a little safer to casually walk out into the sand dunes. And hiking from the campground is easy, as a short trail leaves from the campground to connect with the John Dellenback Trail.

Eel Creek Campground is a little more straightforward than its neighbors, and it succeeds at focusing on its main mission: camping. There are no yurts, amphitheaters, or interpretive centers. Of the 52 sites, none have hookups, which is both refreshing and a little rustic by Oregon Coast campground standards. Several of the sites are a pull-through variety, however, and many of the others are large enough for small trailers. Restrooms are plumbed and are centrally located in both the north and south loops. A longer than average road connects the two loops, and several car/tent sites are strung out along this road, as is access to the dunes.

Visitors are a short drive from Tenmile Lake and Eel Lake in William M. Tugman State Park. Additionally, Umpqua Lighthouse State Park is only 6 miles north and well worth the trip.
