Big Spring is one of the network of clear warm water springs in western Utah's Skull Valley. While many of the springs remain inaccessible on private land, Big Spring sits down a short drive on BLM land just off of I-80 exit 77. The large pool is filled with clear brackish water that flows from a source at the bottom of a white shelf of stone at the pool's southern edge. Flowing out at about 70 degrees at the source, the large clear pool shows how the water is teeming with growth such as algae and grass. A nearby marker shows the location of the old Lincoln Highway, which followed the coach road and migrant path of the California Trail.

The area is fine to swim in. On the negative side, the sounds of gunshots from the nearby free shooting range, along with litter and noise from the nearby highway, can contribute to a slightly underwhelming experience here. Bring bug spray. There are also no bathrooms, water or other amenities here.

The road in is severely rutted, but a standard passenger car can easily make it if you drive slowly.
