Owhi Campground

Tucked away on the banks of Cooper Lake, Owhi Campground is a great place to camp if you are looking for serenity. No motorized boats are allowed on the lake, making it quiet and ideal for canoeing, kayaking, or fishing for trout.

Owhi's 22 primitive campsites are walk-ins around 200 feet from the parking area, giving the campground a distinct backcountry feel. Many of the sites are tucked back into lush bushes under tall fir trees, and some more open sites are right on the lake shore with views out onto the water. Snowy peaks and tree-covered ridges surround the peaceful lake, adding to the feeling of being away from civilization while you camp.

If you would like to hike during your stay at Owhi, there are numerous trails in the area. Stroll down Cooper River toward Salmon la Sac, or follow the trail to Pete Lake from the north end of Cooper Lake. Another option is to drive to the Salmon la Sac Trailhead and explore Polallie Ridge or the trail to Waptus Lake, which links up with the famous Pacific Crest Trail.
