Over the summer of 2017, I determined to figure out how to catch the elusive
Northern Snakehead on the Potomac River. Although kayak bass fishing is my
passion, I decided to take a break from it by stepping outside of my comfort
zone to target this species because of their growing numbers and
rising popularity.
Oregon’s coastline is well known for its dramatic scenery; a landscape
of rocky headlands, forested capes and picturesque coves interspersed with
sweeping beaches and coastal rivers draining watersheds both large and
small.
Lesser known, however, is the story behind Oregon’s unique coastal public
access. Oregon's coastline, it turns out, is a coastline reserved for the
people.
Simply put, Oregon is a land made for camping. Those who have explored the
state's public coastline [1] or expansive stretches of wilderness, national
forests and BLM land making up much of Oregon’s interior know that a
person could easily spend a lifetime discovering new places to spend the
night outdoors in the Beaver State.
